RIP Virginia

We lost a member of the coop two nights ago when a raccoon figured out there was a hole he could get through.  The strongest of the three, their little leader, Virginia unfortunately met her fate that night.  I suspect she wasn’t in pain—the raccoon broke her neck, so she at least didn’t suffer.  She started laying eggs a few days ago and we’re pretty sure she went to go protect them.  She died a good momma—even though those eggs would have never hatched…. such is life.
